Chill

It suddenly dawned on me how cold it was.  I was filling up my car a little while ago and realized that I was cold and not just a little cold either.  And then I had an epiphany. It was minus 14 and I was pumping gas with my leather jacket wide open and no hat or gloves on.  Now to be fair, I do own a winter coat, hats and gloves.  I had simply chose not to wear them.  So whose fault was it that I was cold?  Duh!  It really wouldn’t have been right to blame God for making the day so cold or the service station for not heating the pump area when I could have dressed warmer.

But how often in our lives do we get into trouble and blame God when He has already  provided us with all the resources we need and we choose not to avail ourselves of those resources?  Whether it is instruction from his Word, encouragement from fellow believers or strength and power from the Holy Spirit, much of what we need is readily available, if we want it.  But sometimes it’s just easier to find someone else to blame.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.

The Furture is Here!

I can still remember when I got my first calculator that would fit in my pocket.  It was in High School and it cost what then seemed like a fortune.  But it could do so much, add, multiply, divide etc.  It could even do percentages and find the square root of any numbers.  At least that’s what they told me, however, I’ve never needed to find the square root of a number.  The future was here.
Now the calculator in my pocket still does math but it also functions as a television letting me watch my favorite programs anywhere.  It is a typewriter that I can type notes on, a telegraph that allows me to send short messages to my friends, I can use it as a telephone calling people anywhere in the world and it’s a camera that doesn’t need film. The future is here.
We don’t know what tomorrow may hold for us with technology, after all Yogi Berra reminds us that “it’s hard to make predictions, especially about the future”.  And Yogi was right, we may not be able to predict tomorrow, after all, where are our flying cars?  But the Bible has promised us that Jesus will be the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.  And that’s all I really need to know.  Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
