It’s the New Year and a great time for reflecting and being
thankful for where we are in life and what we have. Just the other day I read a story about a
woman in South Carolina who beat and stabbed her common law husband with a
ceramic squirrel. Yes, a ceramic
squirrel. It seems Helen Williams was
enraged when her partner returned home from his Christmas Eve beer run &
was unable to obtain beer because the store was closed. As I read the story, I reflected on how
thankful I was that I’ve never been stabbed with a ceramic squirrel, and more
so that I’ve never stabbed anyone with a ceramic squirrel. The man survived, not so the squirrel.
I don’t know all the circumstances that led to the squirrel
stabbing, but I would suspect that any number of those circumstances had to do
with choices made by those involved.
In 2014, I have resolved to not make choices that will lead
to me stabbing anyone with a ceramic squirrel.
And isn’t that what New Year’s Resolutions are all about? Resolving to make good choices. Whether it is choosing to do better things or
choosing to not continue to do harmful things.
What choices will you make this year?
Have a great week and remember:
To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
